About

Erik Lundberg

Political scientist researching civil society, democracy and political participation.

I am an associate professor in political science with a long-standing interest in what makes people take part in democracy – and in the organizations and settings that make such participation possible.

In my research I have moved between questions of civil society, volunteering, young people's political development and political participation. What unites them is an interest in the relationship between people, organizations and democracy.

Alongside my research I have extensive experience of teaching and course development in political science, as well as of academic leadership. Today I work as a researcher and head of department at Dalarna University.

My professional background also extends beyond the university. I have worked in government inquiries, agencies and municipal operations, among other things on questions of democracy, migration, human rights and public service. Experience of both academic and public sector work shapes my interest in research that is relevant and accessible also beyond academia.
